AN AMERICAN STORY, A HEART FOR SERVICE
In the race to replace retiring Republican Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, Kevin Jones stands out. Raised in Wellsville, in the geographic heart of the 2nd Congressional District, Kevin’s Kansas roots run deep. Graduating from Wellsville High School, Kevin went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Kansas. Later he would earn a Master of Ministry degree from Southwestern Christian University, during which he was ordained and pastored at two Wichita area churches. It was also during this time that the 9/11 terror attack struck the World Trade Center and America went to war.
Kevin answered a heartfelt call to service and joined the U.S. Army in 2004, becoming a Green Beret and deployed as a member of the Army’s Special Forces to hotspots around the world, including Iraq. Kevin graduated in the top of his class from the Army’s Airborne, Jumpmaster, Ranger, Special Operations Combat Medic, and Special Forces Qualification schools. While serving in the sands of Iraq, Kevin made use of downtime writing a children’s book for his young family, a project that eventually led to Kevin becoming a successful published author.
Returning home in 2010, Kevin and his wife Nicole made the decision to expand their family. Soon after, Kevin left the Army and chose to return to his hometown roots in Wellsville where he and Nicole are raising their now family of seven children. There Kevin began a real estate career, a successful online sales business, and most notably a new avenue of public service. Kevin has been elected to two terms on the Wellsville School District Board of Education and serves on the Franklin County Planning Commission. In 2012, Republican Kevin Jones ran for the Kansas House of Representatives, defeating a nine term Democrat stalwart. Kevin continues today serving the people of House District 5, encompassing portions of four counties.
With a heart for service, and having fought for our values and national security abroad, Kevin Jones will continue the fight to defend our American values in Congress and work to lead our country to a more prosperous and secure future.
